METROLOGY BILL


provide for the administration and supervision of metrology; to designate the Namibian Standards Council as the governance board for metrology; to provide for the functions of the Namibian Standards Institution and the appointment of the head of metrology and other professionals in metrology; to provide for legal units of measurements and legal metrology technical regulations, national measurement standards and to ensure their comparability to international measurement standards; to provide for metrological supervision and control; to provide for type approval and verification of measuring instruments, restrictions on use and possession of measuring instruments; to provide for repair of measuring instruments and registration of metrology technicians; to repeal the Measuring Units and National Measuring Standards Act, 1973 and the Trade Metrology Act, 1973; and to provide for incidental matters.
